Dear...

I respect your enthusiasm and appreciate your concern.
Those are official records what you have read the books published by Korea institute of military history.
Yes, I am a member of MARKI, assigned as the researcher the history of the war.

First of all, I am sorry to say this but it needs to inform you that I am not a person on behalf of official. Please understand that mentioning below is my private view will able to say only what I knew.

Your first question, on ceremony 500 recovered remains buried at national cemetery what you may read the news reports. (Actually 519 remains are excavated till June in this year)

Second, you can find out the official statement of war casualties at the homepage of Korea institute of military history. I wonder whether they provide English program.
There are stated; KIA (137,899), MIA (24,495), POW (8,343), WIA(450,.742)

Other one you said, at first I am sorry for making you confused.
The number of 137,899 was killed during the Korean War on the basis of official record what above mentioned.
There is not including the number of 25,000 who were rested in national cemetery some of them may died in hospital caused wounded in action.

The number of 137,899 was believed died in battle field. (But we only have 132,538 soldier’s list.) That figures came out from military manning list and other statement of witnesses after the war. Imagine in 1950s the situation of this country had not good administration system and North Korean’s surprise attack led thrown into confusion. I guess that’s the reason somewhat stated differently.

As I mentioned yesterday, we have excavated 2,600 remains since 2000. (There are 590 enemy soldiers included)
Let’s figure it out roughly how many are left. We can find out from about 130,000 to 135,000 have to be recovered.

The casualty number (152,279) shown in war memorial might be included missing in action and prisoner of war I believe even I never seen.
I have been founding out differences of war casualty statement between other publications including foreign data. I’ve been requesting more detail information to whom may have authority. And I am willing to make correctness of casualty statement myself.

That is my limitation what I can provide you.
Sorry for not giving appropriate information.

Thanks and safe trip.
Bye
